Robert served as the General Manager of Transpacific IP’s Taiwan office from March 2013 to February 2015. He is currently appointed as Executive Consultant of the company from March 2015.

Prior to joining Transpacific IP, Robert worked for more than 35 years in the electronics industry, where he held technical and management positions covering areas of semiconductor manufacturing process, packaging, printed circuit board manufacturing process, PCB assembly process, laser transceiver and fibre optics. He has also worked in headquarter functions such as planning, competitive analysis, procurement strategy, supplier management and business divestiture.

For the past 15 years, Robert has worked for IBM and Infineon on IP monetization in areas such as patent licensing, patent sales, technology transfers and re-negotiation of existing contracts; and has negotiated with companies from the US, Japan, Singapore, China, Taiwan, Germany and Finland.

While at IBM, Robert was part of a team of technical and business people who negotiated and closed several major IP transactions and business divestitures, adding significantly to IP income and freedom-of-action for IBM. For his contributions during his career with IBM, Robert received 15 formal and informal awards.

As a Principal at Infineon Technologies' headquarters in Munich, Robert assisted in the formation and growth of the IP licensing department and initiated various projects from identifying candidate companies, analyzing their products and patent portfolios, developing engagement strategies, asserting patents, negotiating and closing deals. He then transferred to Infineon's Asia Pacific headquarters in Singapore where as a Senior Manager, he analyzed Infineon's China portfolio and developed an aggressive patent filing strategy to support Infineon's business in China.

He was awarded the Asian American Corporate Achievement Award (nominated by IBM), by the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), and an Outstanding Service Award by the Chinese American Academic and Professional Society (CAAPS).

Robert is a Certified Licensing Professional and has a Master of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University, a Master of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Chung-Hsing University in Taiwan.
