Guy is the CEO and Founder of Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP company based in Asia. Since its founding in 2004, the company has grown to become a leading IP monetization firm in Asia with a reputation that extends worldwide. Furthermore, he often is at the forefront of technology transfer and knowledge sharing for new patented technologies from leading universities.
In addition to his leadership role of a global IP company, Guy is an influential member of the IP industry – a guest speaker at industry conferences globally, an advisor to governments and academic institutions, and one of the “World’s Leading Strategist” as named by IAM Magazine from 2012 to 2023. He was also most recently honored as one of the most “Influential and Inspiring IP Leaders of All Time” during the World IP Forum 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand.
He has more than 30 years of business experience in multiple technologies and industries. Prior to founding Transpacific IP, Guy advised start-up companies on critical IP and business management issues, including IP strategy, portfolio development, acquisitions, and licensing, as well as company formation, business capitalization, strategic planning and executive management. He also has extensive experience working with private equity investors and acquisition groups on company and management assessments and technology and due diligence reviews.
Guy serves on the Board of Directors at several companies and was a Director on the Board for the IP Office of Singapore (2010 to 2014). He is a Supervisor of the Master Postgraduate Program at the Peking University IP School, Chairman of the International IP Institute at Sichuan University, Director of the China National Institute for Digital Copyright Research Centre, and Vice Chairman of Workshops and Plenaries at the Licensing Executives Society International.
Guy earned a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering at Rensselear Polytechnic Institute and served as a nuclear trained and qualified officer in the United States Navy.
Jack is Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP Company based in Asia. . Jack brings a wealth of deep IP and technical expertise to Transpacific IP. He leads the analytics practice, advising the team and overseeing client deliverables, including claim charts, prior art, portfolio evaluations, litigation support, theories of infringement, interrogatories, request for admissions/production, invalidity, rebuttals and expert witnessing, among others. With his many years of IP experience, he also evaluates portfolios for acquisition, divestiture or licensing.
Prior to joining Transpacific IP, Jack was Corporate Vice President of Strategic Business Development at UTStarcom, a publicly traded telecommunications company where he managed high value transactions. He has also led advanced research groups and patent portfolio monetization campaigns, beginning at AT&T Bell Labs.
An inventor with 28 U.S. patents, Jack was the chief architect of numerous internet media and broadband software and hardware communication products. He has been a contributor and editor in various telecommunications standards making bodies and has written articles for numerous forums, including the International Technology Law Association, International Engineering Consortium, IEEE Press, National Engineering Consortium Annual Review of Communications, Internet Telephony Magazine, and the National Cable & Telecommunications Association.
Jack earned a Master of Science in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois and DeVry University in Electrical Engineering. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Brad Close is Executive Vice President at Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP company based in Asia. Since its founding in 2004, the company has grown to become a leading IP monetization firm in Asia with a reputation that extends worldwide. Brad oversees the company’s patent monetization operations in North America. Since joining the company Brad has been instrumental in expanding operations, acquiring cutting-edge technology patent portfolios, and leads the company’s successful monetization teams with ongoing success.
Brad started his legal career as a patent prosecution and contracts attorney before focusing on monetizing patents for clients. He was a founding member of the Silicon Valley law firm Technology and Intellectual Property Services Group where he specialized in helping startups and large companies alike sell and acquire patents.
In addition to his leadership role at a global IP company, Brad continues be a featured guest speaker at industry conferences globally, and one of the “World’s Leading Strategist” as named by IAM Magazine in 2022. His expertise on portfolio transactions, patent valuation techniques and overall patent portfolio management have been recognized worldwide.
Brad is an alumni of Queen’s University, and Franklin Pierce Law Center where he obtained a Juris Doctor and Masters of Intellectual Property.
Lillian Safran Shaked is Vice President at Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP Company based in Asia. Since its founding in 2004, the company has grown to become a leading IP monetization firm in Asia with a reputation that extends worldwide. Lillian specializes in corporate and commercial law, primarily representing all stages of high-tech companies, as well as certain prominent venture capital funds. She advises clients on business, financial, tax and intellectual property issues involved in establishing and developing their businesses. Her counsel pertains to day-to-day management; private and venture capital financing; strategic alliances and joint ventures; technology and commercial transactions; and M&A transactions locally and cross-border.
Ms. Shaked has extensive experience in the patent monetization field, where she regularly advises patent buyers and sellers, licensors and licensees on the intricacies of monetizing their IP rights. Ms. Shaked’s expertise in this field encompasses the full monetization life-cycle, from financing and sourcing of patents, through the patent acquisition process, and culminating with licensing and settlement arrangements. Ms. Shaked works with several of the world’s leading public and private patent licensing businesses.
In addition, Ms. Shaked has significant experience in the Chinese market, representing companies and investors interested in investing in, establishing and/or maintaining operations in the Greater Chinese market.
Prior to founding Shaked & Co., Ms. Shaked was a partner in the high-tech department of a large and well known international law firm in Tel Aviv. Ms. Shaked was born in Ottawa, Canada.
Mandy Yu is Vice President of Operations at Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP company based in Asia. Since its founding in 2004, the company has grown to become a leading IP monetization firm in Asia with a reputation that extends worldwide. In her multifaceted role, Mandy not only oversees the day-to-day operations of the Taipei office but also imparts invaluable guidance to employees across the organization. Additionally, Mandy spearheads all legal matters for Transpacific IP and efficiently manages the company’s patent monetization endeavors.
Mandy embarked on her professional journey as a highly skilled paralegal. Over the years, she refined her expertise, concentrating on operations, patents, and project management. Armed with nearly two decades of experience in entity management, patent acquisitions, and monetization, she has skillfully composed and scrutinized substantial volumes of contracts and adeptly supervised the maintenance and administration of numerous entities. Furthermore, under her leadership, the team has facilitated hundreds of patent transactions with a wide range of clients including Fortune 500 companies, cumulatively valued in billions of dollars.
In addition to her proficiency in company operations, Mandy’s mastery encompasses patent due diligence, contract drafting and review, as well as comprehensive patent portfolio management. Her excellence in these domains has garnered recognition on a global scale.
Mandy holds a Bachelor of Law from the School of Law at Soochow University, complemented by the completion of the “Contract Drafting and Negotiating Masterclass” conducted by Euromoney Training in 2009.
Michelle Luo is Finance Manager at Transpacific IP, the first full-service IP company based in Asia. Since its founding in 2004, the company has grown to become a leading IP monetization firm in Asia with a reputation that extends worldwide.
Michelle is responsible for all financial reporting and functions that includes accounting and auditing. She oversees the budgets, tax planning, financial planning, and analysis. Besides that, Michelle also manages human resource functions of the Singapore office.
Michelle holds a Bachelor of Arts in Accountancy and Financial Management from the University of Portsmouth.
